Taking serious cognisance of the incidents in Nainital and Betalghat during the recently concluded Panchayat polls, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed officials to ensure fair and effective action. He directed the Kumaon commissioner to conduct a detailed magisterial inquiry in the matter and submit his report to the State administration within 15 days.
Considering the Betalghat firing and other incidents, the CM directed the transfer of the police circle officer of Bhawali to a post outside the district. The Tallital police station house officer will also be transferred out of Nainital district.
Dhami also clarified that the CB-CID will conduct a detailed investigation of the incidents in Nainital and Bhawali and all the FIRs lodged during the period in question. The State government will not compromise with the law and order situation under any circumstances and strict action will be taken against those found guilty, the CM added.
