Dehradun police have sought disciplinary action against 98 students allegedly involved in criminal activities, drug-related activities, fights and misconduct. Based on police reports, 84 students have been suspended and four have been expelled by their respective educational institutions.

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal said that reports containing details of cases and complaints against the students were sent to the concerned universities and educational institutions. The institutions were asked to take disciplinary action according to their rules.

Dobal said that they have been monitoring students involved in fights, public nuisance, drug activities and other criminal incidents. “Police are also preparing lists of students found involved in such activities and sharing their records with educational institutions,” he said.

The SSP has also directed police to check the backgrounds of students from outside the state who are studying in educational institutions in the district. Their activities are being monitored regularly to identify any involvement in criminal or anti-social activities.

He said the action is aimed at maintaining a safe environment around educational institutions and preventing students from getting involved in crime.

The SSP warned students that their student life is an important period for building their future. He said students found disturbing law and order or involved in criminal activities would face strict legal action.
