The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the protest being staged by the Congress during the ongoing Panchayat election is a political drama. The Congress is unsuccessfully attempting to disrupt the Panchayat poll process with such political drama, the BJP averred.
The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that even though the governor was out of town, the Congress leaders are competing with each other to stage protests and make illogical statements. Bhatt told the media that there is a festive atmosphere due to the three-tier Panchayat election. Residents of rural areas are participating enthusiastically in the election process to elect their local government.
The BJP organisation is also busy in its efforts to ensure the victory of the candidates it is supporting in these elections. A large number of independent candidates are also approaching the public to seek their support in these elections. All the residents of rural areas are eager to elect their representatives soon in order to speed up development of the villages, Bhatt said.
On the other hand, it appears as if the Congress has already acknowledged its defeat in the election. “The Congress was first complaining about the Panchayat elections not being held. It approached the court when the elections were announced and now that such hurdles have been cleared, it is levelling false allegations and spreading confusion regarding the election process and the system. The Congress leaders and workers are sitting at home instead of being active in the field. Instead of moving ahead in the polls, they are busy competing with each other. This is the reason why Congress leaders are raising baseless questions to impede the electoral process and confuse the public,” the BJP State president said.
Referring to the protest led by Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara outside the Raj Bhawan, Bhatt said that it was known to all that the governor was not in town and this made it impossible for anyone to meet him here. However, the Congress leaders are competing to gain media attention and staged a protest outside the Raj Bhawan in an attempt to create an unnecessary issue, Bhatt added.
