CS Bardhan calls for an action plan for air connectivity in all districts

The chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed the state administration to prepare an action plan for providing air connectivity to all district headquarters and important tourist destinations in the State. He gave the order while chairing a meeting held to review the saturation points mentioned in the budget speech of the Finance minister for the year 2024-25 at the secretariat on Monday.

The CS directed that all the departments concerned should present an action plan (with a time limit) to address the saturation points mentioned in the budget speech of the Finance minister. He said that deadlines for all stages of the action plans should be set and continuous monitoring should be done. 

The CS directed the Public Works Department to immediately renovate unsafe bridges and trolleys in the State. He said that a safety audit of trolleys used in the transportation should be conducted and it should be ensured that these trolleys operate as per regulations. Bardhan said that the PWD should repair all the damaged bridges as soon as possible.  He also asked the PWD to equip the State’s roads with crash barriers.  In the meeting the CS also sought updates from all departments regarding the implementation of the e-office project.

He stated that all departments need to shift to e-office and expedite the process and directed the IT department to take necessary action in this regard.

The CS also directed that theme-based science and innovation centres in all the districts of the State should be set up. He said that 13 employment exchanges of the State should be developed as self-employment with facilities like libraries and video conferencing. 

The CS asked the Education department to ensure the availability of furniture in schools and set up libraries in all district headquarters and cities with a population of over 50,000.
