In second operation, STF arrests 2 hardcore criminals

In back to back operation within 24 hours, the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested two criminals as part of its ongoing campaign against illegal weapons. In a joint operation, the STF and Rudrapur police recovered three illegal pistols (.315 bore) and 10 live cartridges from the accused duo.
Sharing details, the senior superintendent of police, STF, Ajai Singh stated that the arrested accused have been identified as Jitendra Veerat Chaudhary, resident of Subhashnagar Dibdiba, Bilaspur police station under Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh, and Sumit Rathore, resident of Azadnagar, Transit Camp police station in Udham Singh Nagar district. “Both the accused are notorious criminals and have several serious cases registered against them, including attempt to murder (Section 307),” he said.
He further said that the arrest of the duo had dealt a major blow to the network of two criminal gangs operating on the Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh border. “During their interrogation, we got important clues related to the illegal arms supply chain and this could lead to further major action,” he added.
Notably, in the last 24 hours, STF has arrested three notorious criminals and recovered six illegal pistols and 21 cartridges.
Police sources said that this action has prevented several potential major criminal incidents in Kumaon region.
