In view of the disasters that occurred in Dehradun, the two-day State level sports competition- organised by the State Women Empowerment and Child Development department to mark the birthdays of the chief minister and the Prime Minister- was held symbolically on Tuesday. The Cabinet minister Rekha Arya was to participate in it as the chief guest, but she could not participate due to the disaster. Around 250 children residing in 14 child care institutions operating in Almora, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Pauri districts were to participate in a string of events like kho-kho, kabaddi, spoon race, sack race, tug of war and indoor activities along with speech, Rangoli, painting and yoga competitions.
The secretary of the organising department, Chandresh Yadav congratulated the children who turned up to participate in the competition.
