Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey inspected the disaster-affected Maldevta–Kesarwala area in Raipur constituency on Friday. A portion of the road here was washed away in the recent flood, cutting direct connectivity between Maldevta and Raipur.
An alternative road was constructed and opened for traffic on Friday morning after two days of work. Pandey directed officials to make the temporary road more accessible and begin construction of a permanent road after the monsoon. He also asked for measures to protect the road from future floods.
Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau said that the temporary road has restored movement for people in Raipur’s remote villages and Tehri’s Saklana region. He urged residents to avoid using the road at night during the monsoon until permanent construction is completed.
He said that authorities are working day and night to ensure all roads reconnect and locals can commute without any hindrance.
