Five arrested for attempt to murder in Selaqui

Police have arrested five youths for allegedly attacking a man with a sharp weapon in Selaqui area of Dehradun on Sunday. The incident took place on the evening of December 9 in Selaqui market. The injured man was taken to the Graphic Era Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
The arrested accused have been identified as Avinash Negi, Shaurya Rajput, Suraj Khawas, Sumit and Ayush Badoni.
According to the police, the victim’s brother, Michael Chakma, filed a complaint stating that the accused abused them and attacked his brother with the intention to kill. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Selaqui police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police said the violent altercation started after a minor argument at a liquor shop while buying alcohol. The argument soon turned violent and the accused allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp-edged weapon, causing serious injuries.
Taking the matter seriously, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh directed the police to arrest the accused. A special team was formed and after collecting information and conducting raids, the police arrested all five accused from the Selaqui area. Police said strict action is being taken against criminals to maintain law and order in the district. Further investigation in the case is underway.
