He chaired a meeting with the officers of departments concerned at the secretariat on Thursday to develop the Tehri Lake area as a global destination.

He added that a comprehensive action plan should be developed for the Tehri Lake area. The plan should include the construction of a Tehri Lake Ring Road, an iconic bridge and lush green walkways. He directed that the area should have wellness centres for adventure tourists, eco parks and natural viewpoints. The CS added that the work can be done in phases, but the plan should be fully developed at one time.

In the meeting, the CS said that the focus should be on end-to-end connectivity for reaching Tehri. He also called for widening and beautifying roads. Emphasizing on site-specific construction, the CS directed the preservation of green areas and natural beauty throughout the region. The CS suggested that the plan for developing Tehri Lake as a global destination should also include waterdrome and a waterport. He said that the construction and design of iconic bridges should be done with the seaplane project in mind. The CS said that the helipad located near the Dobarachanti Bridge be developed into a heliport.

Secretary Sachin Kurve, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Dhiraj Garbyal and others were present in the meeting.
