Free UTC bus travel for women on Aug 28 & 29 for Rakshabandhan

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami declared free bus travel for women in Uttarakhand for the festival of Rakshabandhan. Women will be able to travel at no cost on Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) buses across the State on August 28 and August 29.
According to officials, the State government has issued an order directing the UTC to take the necessary action in this regard. A large number of women travel to visit the houses of their brothers, parents and relatives during Rakshabandhan and this initiative will provide them with safe, convenient and free public transportation. The government aims to facilitate women’s travel during the festival and offer them financial relief, officials said.
In this regard, the additional secretary, Uttarakhand Government Reena Joshi clarified that the expenditure incurred by the corporation for the free travel will be reimbursed by the State government. The Transport department has instructed the corporation to ensure immediate action in line with the government order.
