Under the direction of the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, the district police conducted an awareness programme to educate school students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and prevention of cybercrimes. The programme was organised at Siddharth Public School under Nehru Colony police station limits in collaboration with Sajag India Foundation.
The police officials briefed students about the physical, mental and social consequences of substance abuse and appealed to them to stay away from drugs. They also sensitised students about various cybercrimes, including online fraud, cyberbullying and misuse of personal data, and shared precautionary measures to remain safe in the digital space.
An interactive question-and-answer session was also held during which students and teachers raised queries related to drug addiction and cyber safety. The police personnel responded to their questions and provided practical guidance.
The police team urged students, teachers and people at large to promptly inform the police about any drug trafficking activities in their neighbourhoods, assuring complete confidentiality of the informants.
Students and teachers took a pledge on the occasion to stay away from drugs and support the ongoing anti-drug campaign initiated by Dehradun police.
