PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar

With a huge crowd coming to the holy city of Haridwar during the ongoing Kanwad Yatra, the municipal corporation has firmed up a comprehensive and concrete action plan to deal with the challenge to cleanliness. Under this action plan, a special campaign will be run from 8 PM on July 23 to 6 AM on July 24-the last 10 hours of the Yatra.  The civic body officials said that they would go all-out to see that all the major ghats and the Kanwad Mela stretch remain 100 per cent clean.

With this objective in view, the municipal corporation has nominated four nodal officers under whom assistant nodal officers have been appointed, too.  All these officers have been assigned the responsibility of different areas so that the cleaning work is completed smoothly on every ghat and route.  The areas include Malviya Ghat, Kankhal Ghat, Shiv Ghat, Alaknanda Ghat, Subhash Ghat, Nai Ghat, Hathi Pul, Birla Ghat, Keshav Ashram to CCR Chowk, Upper Road Kotwali to Bhimgoda barrier, Moti Bazaar and Sabzi Mandi.

The corporation’s senior officials further said that the solid waste to be collected under this mega campaign would be disposed of scientifically.
