High-altitude Ultra Marathon slated in Adi Kailash, in Nov

The first-ever High Altitude Ultra Marathon is all set to be held in Adi Kailash and Om Parvat region of the district in November. About 300 persons from across the country are likely to participate in the marathon the objective of which is to promote tourism in the high-altitude Himalayan villages.
The marathon will feature four distances: five km, 10 km, 15 km and 60 km. The district Tourism officers said that the 60 km ‘Jolingkong’ route is expected to offer both excitement and challenge to the participants. They further said that the event is not only about showcasing the cultural and natural beauty of the region but about reaching out to the world and providing an opportunity for local youth and villagers to connect with tourism.
The district Tourism officer, Kirtin Chandra Arya said that the marathon is divided into five phases. “Preparations start from October; we are excited to host this event,” he said, adding that this might attract both adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers.
