A resident of Dehradun has accused two people of cheating him of nearly Rs 70 to Rs 75 lakh by promising to get a Municipal Corporation land allotted in his name. The complainant, Parv Walia, who lives in Jogiwala, has submitted a complaint to the chief minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, requesting him to help register a case.
In his complaint, Walia alleged that Rakesh Valmiki alias Tinka and Neetu Valmiki, a former BJP councillor, had showed him a piece of land and claimed that it belonged to the municipal corporation. They allegedly told him that the land was being allotted and assured him that they would get it transferred in his name. Walia claimed that they had taken money from him at different times, saying the funds would be used to manage the allotment process.
Later, he came to learn that the land deal was fake and that the accused duo had swindled other people in a similar manner, the complaint runs. He further alleged that when victims ask for their money back, they are threatened with false cases under the SC/ST Act. The complainant also claimed that the accused had used photographs with political leaders and VVIPs to gain trust and influence people.
As per the complaint, a settlement was made at Raipur police station in which Rs eight lakh was returned and an agreement was signed in the presence of the police. As per the agreement, Rs 42.50 lakh was to be paid within two months. However, even after five months, the remaining amount has not been paid and the accused are not appearing at the police station, Walia alleged.
Placed in this predicament, Walia has requested the CM to order the registration of a case and help him recover his hard-earned money.
