Mayor urges MCD officials to make Doon encroachment-free

Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal on Wednesday directed the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) officials to step up efforts to remove encroachments on municipal land and submit detailed reports on action taken so far.
During a meeting with the officials of the corporation’s land department, the mayor asked for a complete report on all municipal land that has been freed from encroachment over the past year. He said that the illegal occupation of municipal property will not be tolerated and strict monitoring must continue across all wards of the city.
The mayor instructed the officials to stay alert and identify fresh encroachments at the earliest stage so that action can be taken without delay. He also asked them to take strong steps against what he described as organised encroachment attempts on municipal land.
He further directed the officials to give priority to complaints received from councillors regarding encroachment issues in their respective wards.
The officials said that the civic body has been taking action in several parts of the city and the latest directions are aimed at strengthening monitoring and improving coordination among departments.
They informed that further reviews of encroachment-related cases will continue in the coming weeks as part of efforts to protect municipal land across Dehradun.
The meeting was attended by the additional municipal commissioner, Praveen Kumar; deputy municipal commissioner, Tanveer Marwah and assistant municipal commissioners Rajesh Naithani, Vinay Pratap and T S Panuli.

Surprise inspection: Mayor seeks report on absenteeism
Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal conducted a surprise inspection in Ward no 21 MKP area on Wednesday and sought a report on those sanitation staff found absent in recent days. During the visit, he reviewed cleanliness arrangements and checked attendance records, where several absenteeism was reported. The mayor directed officials to conduct a detailed inquiry and warned of action against the errant staffers. He also instructed the officers concerned to strengthen supervision and ensure proper daily attendance.
