GBPUAT student represents U’khand in the Parliament House

A student of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Neel Yaksh Bora has represented Uttarakhand in the Parliament Study Tour organised by the Parliament Research and Training Institute for Democracies ( PRIDE ) of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The GBPUAT sources said that this is the third time it has represented the State in the Parliament House in a single academic session. This year, students Anshu Pandey and Samishtha Bhatt were also selected from Pantnagar for the Parliament House after successfully clearing several stages, sources added. This initiative is meant to provide the participants with first-hand experience about the functioning of Parliament and democratic processes.

During the study tour, Neil and other participants were given a tour of the Old and New Parliament buildings, along with a detailed overview of the functioning, history and democratic values of the Indian Parliament. Speakers from various states presented their views on the life and contributions of the freedom fighter and educationist, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Moreover, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla addressed them and urged the youth to actively participate in democratic institutions and uphold constitutional values.

Neel Yaksha Bora expressed his gratitude particularly to the Staff Counsellor, Sahitya Society, Amit Kesarwani for his efforts in providing a national platform to the selected students of Pantnagar University. Kesarwani said that it is a matter of pride that the university’s students are sharing their speeches on the best platforms. “This will continue,” he added.  

The vice- chancellor, GBPUAT, Manmohan Singh Chauhan congratulated the student on this achievement.
