Fourfold increase in forced conversion cases shows government’s failure: Cong

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Congress has said that the fourfold increase in the cases of forced religious conversion in the State shows the failure of the State government.

The party’s chief spokesperson in Uttarakhand, Garima Dasauni said that only 11 cases of forced religious conversion were reported from 2020 to 2022 but these cases increased to 42 from the year 2023 to July 2025.

Dasauni claimed that this data exposes the pathetic law and order situation and the failure of the State government. She said that a fourfold increase in cases of forced religious conversion shows that the criminals and the fanatical forces are having no fear of administration.

“The data shows that the government has failed to effectively implement the anti-religious conversion act after enacting it,’’ she said.
