A magisterial inquiry will be held into the death of a first-year B Tech student at GBP University of Agriculture and Technology. His body was found hanging in a hostel room. The deceased’s father, accompanied by Kichha MLA Tilakraj Behad, submitted a memorandum to Udham Singh Nagar district magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria on Thursday in which he alleged that his son had been mentally harassed for his weakness in English. He also expressed suspicion of murder as the suicide note did not bear his son’s signature.
The DM assured that counselling would be provided to the students to prevent recurrence of such incidents. He also assured the deceased’s father that they would help him in all possible ways.
