The leaders of Uttarakhand Congress have said that the public sentiments and anger of the people forced chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to recommend the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in Ankita Bhandari murder case. In a statement, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that the recommendation of CBI probe by the CM shows that mistakes were done in the past. He termed the recommendation as the victory of the struggle and patience of parents of Ankita Bhandari, different political parties, social organisations and the workers of the Congress party. The PCC president however added that the Congress party wants the CBI probe to be monitored by a sitting judge of either Uttarakhand High Court or Supreme Court.

The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garmina Dasauni said that the recommendation of CBI probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case is a victory for the people of the State. She said that the State government was forced to recommend a CBI probe as the people of the State are on streets and agitating for justice to Ankita Bhandari. Dasauni added that the Congress party will not rest till the VIP involved in the case and all the culprits are put behind the bars. Pertinently the Congress party held protests in all parts of the State demanding CBI probe in the sensational case. The party organised Justice for Ankita Bhandri Yatras in all parts of the State.
