Unknown persons vandalise Mazar alleging encroachment in Mussoorie’s forest, police register case

A Mazar in Mussoorie was damaged by a group of unidentified people, leading to tension in the area. According to the police, the incident took place on the evening of January 24 at the Baba Bulleh Shah Mazar located in the Wine Ward area of Allen Estate. According to local sources, the incident occurred with many alleging that the structure was an encroachment on forest land in the area.

The video of this vandalism is also going viral on social media. In the video, some unidentified people can be seen climbing onto the Mazar with shoes on and then starting to damage it with hammers.  The complainant, Akram Khan, a resident of Landour, told the police that about 25 to 30 unknown persons reached the Mazar carrying hammers and crowbars.

The accused allegedly damaged the structure and also harmed religious books kept inside, Khan alleged. Based on the complaint, Mussoorie police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police teams have started searching for the people involved in the incident. Officials said strict action will be taken once the accused are identified and arrested.
