Shooting leaves three injured in Haridwar village

Incident result of old dispute, police searching for accused

Three persons were injured after many rounds were fired allegedly by two men in Alampur village in Haridwar district on Saturday morning. According to sources, the shooting was a result of an old dispute. The police are looking for the two accused while the injured are said to be out of danger.
According to information received, Tejpal had an old dispute with villagers Balister, Sanoj and others in the village. On Saturday morning, Balister and Sanoj reached Tejpal’s residence and began shooting. Tejpal’s son Sushil (50) and grandson Vansh (22) were injured along with a youth who was standing nearby. The three injured men were taken to the civil hospital from where Sushil and Vansh were referred to a higher centre due to the nature of their injuries. Police force was deployed in the village considering the tense situation following the shooting.
According to local sources, the dispute started when a person from the other side posted the photograph of a young woman connected to Tejpal on social media. Vansh had a violent altercation with the youth in question for the social media post and a case had also been lodged against him for assaulting the youth. Vansh had gone to the farm on Friday and had found some youths from the opposing side waiting for him. He had informed his grandfather who had informed the Jhabreda police. Following the shooting on Saturday, the police are searching for the accused and investigating the case. Police personnel have also been posted in the village to maintain law and order.
