The five-day sports meet SVU Oasis 2025 concluded at the Shri Venkateshwara University amid enthusiastic participation from various teams. In addition to 10 teams from the group institutions, more than three dozen teams of various educational institutions from different districts also participated in the event which saw more than 1,200 players compete in wrestling, kabaddi, volleyball, 100, 200 and 500-metres races, mini marathon, javelin throw and hockey.
More than a dozen sports competitions were held in addition to about a dozen cultural activities including singing, painting, dancing and other competitions. Those participating in the events won a total of 28 gold medals, 34 silver medals and 52 bronze medals in addition to two dozen team medals. Known Punjabi pop singer Happy Sharma presented various songs during the event held to mark the conclusion of the five-day programme.
Founding chairman of the Venkateshwara Group, Sudhir Giri said that participating in any competition be it academic or sports, is more important that the results achieved. Pro chancellor of the university, Rajeev Tyagi observed that girls had won more medals than boys in the sports meet.
