The arrested accused were identified as Naresh Dhiman, Lokesh Gulati and Mohtaram Ali in Selaqui area of Dehradun.
According to senior superintendent of police STF, Ajai Singh, the gang was involved in making fake lifesaving medicines of well-known brands and selling them in the market. Earlier, on June 1, 2025, a man named Santosh Kumar was arrested with a large quantity of fake wrappers, outer boxes, labels and QR codes of reputed pharmaceutical companies. The case was first registered at Selaqui police station in Dehradun and later transferred to STF due to its seriousness.
During investigation, a previously arrested accused, Naveen Bansal alias Akshay from Rajasthan, revealed the names of three more people who supplied fake medicines. Acting on this information, STF teams conducted raids in Roorkee and Deoband and arrested Naresh Dhiman, Lokesh Gulati and Mohtaram Ali from their homes. After the recovery of the said consignment, the samples of the medicines and packaging material were tested at the State laboratory and were found to be spurious.
Police said that one more case related to spurious medicines is already registered against one of the accused in Haridwar. STF is now collecting information about their links in other districts and states.
