PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has directed the officials concerned to complete the shop and plot allotment process at the new Arhat Bazaar by September. The direction was issued during an inspection of the market by Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli and MDDA vice-chairman Banshidhar Tiwari on Monday.

The new Arhat Bazaar has already been constructed and the remaining development work is being completed. Chamoli said that there should be no unnecessary delay in providing shops and facilities to the traders.

“A parking fee will be fixed for visitors, while local residents living near the market will be allowed to park their vehicles free of charge. The move is aimed at making parking more organised and reducing inconvenience for residents,” the MLA added.

Traffic management around Arhat Bazaar was also discussed during the inspection. Officials were asked to coordinate with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to ensure smooth traffic movement in and around the market.

Tiwari said that the development of Arhat Bazaar is a priority for them. “Officials have been instructed to complete the allotment process by September-end and improve parking and traffic arrangements by the stipulated timeline,” he added.
