In sync with the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s instruction, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has claimed to have taken all measures to provide uninterrupted power in the Char Dhams. The managing director of UPCL Anil Kumar Yadav said that the corporation has set up a strong power distribution network at these extremely inaccessible, geographically sensitive and weather-challenged pilgrimage sites through its technical capability, efficiency and prompt implementation, ensuring uninterrupted power supply in all the Dhams.
The officials of UPCL informed that electricity is being supplied to Kedarnath Dham from three independent sources.
“Maintaining power supply at Kedarnath Dham, which is located at an altitude of about 3,583 meters above sea level, is a very challenging task. UPCL has, however, turned this challenge into an opportunity and has arranged for power supply from three independent sources. With this system, if there is a technical fault, natural disaster or accidental disruption in any one source, then power supply can be continued uninterrupted through the remaining two sources,” said an officer.
Besides, to increase the reliability of power supply to Badrinath Dham, UPCL has established two independent 11 kV feeders originating from Pandukeshwar substation. Through these feeders, the power supply system reaching Badrinath Dham has now become more efficient, robust and rehabilitative.
