Woman alleges online threats using husband’s photo on instagram

A woman from Dehradun has filed a cybercrime complaint at Patel Nagar police station after receiving obscene messages and threats through a fake Instagram account. The complainant, Asha Mittal, a resident of Niranjanpur Mandi, said that an unknown person had created a fake Instagram ID using the photograph of her husband, Amit Mittal, and started sending abusive and offensive messages to both of them.

As per the complaint, the sender made vulgar remarks about the woman and also threatened her husband. The couple said that though they had blocked the Instagram ID the accused continued to unblock and send messages repeatedly, causing them mental harassment.

The woman further alleged that the fake account is being operated by a man called Punit from Saharanpur. She also mentioned in the complaint that another man, Navneet Singh Paruthi, who is known to the family, might have been involved in it because of his enmity towards them.

Police officials said that the matter falls under cybercrime and a complaint has been registered. They added that an investigation has been started to identify those involved.
