1,395 students awarded degrees in GPUAT’s 37th convocation

The 37th convocation ceremony of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GbPUAT) was held on Tuesday with 1,395 students being conferred degrees. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh urged the students to contribute towards building a developed and self-reliant India. He emphasised on the growing importance of emerging technologies and encouraged students to adopt the “lab to land” approach.

A total of 1,395 students were awarded degrees during the ceremony, while 36 meritorious students received gold, silver and bronze medals. Jayashree Roy was conferred the Chancellor’s Gold Medal for being the best graduate. The Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medals were awarded to 13 students, including Pallavi Sharma, Shambhavi Jha and Anurag Saini.

Vice-Chancellor’s Silver Medals were given to 12 students and Bronze Medals to 10 students. Several students were also honoured with special awards for excellence in different fields, including Divya Lingwal, Pallavi Sharma and Rekha Bhatt.

Speaking on the occasion, cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi highlighted the university’s role in India’s Green Revolution, while MP Ajay Bhatt urged students to focus on discipline and hard work for success.

The vice-chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan outlined the university’s achievements in agricultural education and research. The ceremony was conducted by registrar Deepa Vinay and attended by faculty, officials, students and parents.
