MoU signed between Doon University & National Autonomous University of Mexico

In an important development that may expand the frontiers of knowledge involving Indian and the Latin American countries, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Doon University and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the oldest and the largest university of the country. During this MoU signing programme, the Ambassador of India to Mexico and senior officials of UNAM were present virtually.
It is learnt from the Doon University officials that Doon University is an institute under the University Connect Programme under the chairmanship of India’s Group-20. It is further learnt that the MoU has been signed with the Institute of Chemistry of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Aside from paving the way for collaborative research, joint conferences/seminars, exchange programmes for researchers and other joint academic activities between the two universities, the MoU would focus on several key technology sectors, including aerospace, petrochemicals, energy conventional and non-conventional, among others.
Speaking of the development, the vice-chancellor (VC) of the Doon University Surekha Dangwal said that the MoU would help deepen relations between the two universities in the realms of education and research. She further said that the MoU would further boost research activities being conducted in both the countries.
India’s Ambassador to Mexico, Pankaj Sharma hoped that cooperation in study and research would benefit the academic world of both the countries. He said that exchange of education and research would prove instrumental in understanding and knowing social and cultural values of both the countries. “This will definitely help both the countries to connect culturally and socially in a better way. Besides, this agreement will help open new dimensions of research and education for the entire Latin American region,” he said.
