State aiming to provide better health facilities at Char Dham: Rawat

The State government is aiming to provide better health facilities to the local residents and pilgrims at the Char Dham. A day after checking health facilities in Yamunotri Dham, Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said this while visiting Gangotri Dham and Harshil where he checked the medical health facilities on Saturday. The minister also checked the medical health unit and government schools in Harshil. Rawat also sought the feedback of local residents, pilgrims and hoteliers on the health facilities in the area.
The minister made surprise visits to the primary health centre at Harshil and the government allopathic hospital in Gangotri where he sought information from the medical staff about the health services available. He directed the departmental officials to ensure medical equipment and adequate quantity of life saving drugs at the health centres. During his visit, he also interacted with patients, their attendants and pilgrims at Harshil to ask about their condition and the state of the health facilities. Stating that the government is aiming to provide better medical health facilities for pilgrims and local residents at the Char Dham, he directed that there should not be any negligence by the officials. Visiting the government primary school and government inter college at Harshil, the minister interacted with the students while also directing the teachers to ensure a positive academic atmosphere to facilitate quality education to the students. Rawat also visited Barsu village in the Bhatwadi block where he sought the feedback of the villagers on the education and health facilities in the area. He issued instructions on the spot to the officials to take measures for resolving the issues being faced by the locals. He also agreed to the demand of the locals for opening a wellness centre in the area.
