37,400 rooftop solar power plants installed in Uttarakhand

The PM Surya Ghar scheme is eliciting good response in Uttarakhand. Under the scheme, a total of 37,400 rooftop solar power plants of 140 MW capacity have been installed in the State. The managing director of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited, Anil Kumar Yadav said under the guidance of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami the UPCL has taken a target of installing 40,000 rooftop solar power plants in the State and is on the path of achieving the target much before time.
He said that so far 37,400 roof top solar plans have been installed which are not only reducing the bill of consumers but they have also received a sum of Rs 273 crore as subsidy under the project. Yadav said that more than 600 vendors have been empaneled under the scheme. The consumers are being provided facility of auto TFR (transfer) and increase of sanctioned load which has made the process of installation of solar plants easy. He claimed that Uttarakhand is among top five States in the country in per capita power generation in solar power.
Yadav said that the UPCL has recently started a combined study with the help of the Council on Energy, Environment and Water. The objective of the study is to assess the operation, maintenance and production capacity of the rooftop solar power plants.
