To take on the increased vehicular queuing on roads found on weekend, the police have implemented a special traffic and diversion plan in Kainchi Dham, Bhowali and Bhimtal areas. The aim is to provide relief to tourists as well as locals from traffic jams and maintain smooth traffic flow, said the SSP, Nainital,
Manjunath TC.
He said that as per the plan drawn up, heavy vehicles coming to Haldwani from Almora and Ranikhet were to be diverted via Kwarbh and Khairna and sent via the Ramgarh and Mukteshwar routes. The cargo trucks, categorised under essential services heading towards the hills from Haldwani, are, however, allowed to follow their designated routes on weekend while other heavy vehicles are being stopped before Bhowali Masjid intersection or diverted via Ramgarh and Khutani motorways, depending on traffic pressure.
Special arrangements have also been made for the convenience of tourists. Private vehicles traveling to Kainchi Dham via Bhimtal route are being parked at Bhimtal Vikas Bhawan parking lot. From here, pilgrims are being transported to Kainchi Dham via a shuttle service. Similarly, vehicles of tourists arriving via Nainital-Gethia route are being parked at Bhowali Sanatorium parking lot. From here, pilgrims are reaching Kainchi Dham via a shuttle service.
Police have appealed to all tourists and drivers to adhere to the weekend diversion plan to ensure smooth and safe travel.
