MCH warns against littering & encroachment ahead of Ganga Dussehra

Ahead of the Ganga Dussehra to be celebrated on May 25, the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has warned shopkeepers against encroachments on public roads and ghats in the Upper Road, Brahmapuri and Har Ki Paidi areas. Officials also warned that action will be taken against littering. The municipal commissioner Nandan Kumar inspected these areas on Saturday.  Kumar directed officials to further increase focus on sanitation. The MCH has divided the area involved into different zones and deployed sanitation inspectors to these zones. The sanitation inspectors have been directed to ensure regular cleaning and removal of encroachments in their respective areas.

Kumar said that a large number of people are expected to arrive in Haridwar on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra. The MCH has stepped up its inspection and enforcement activities considering this. Strict warnings have also been issued against littering and violation of rules in pilgrimage sites, he added.

Deputy municipal commissioner Deepak Goswami and other MCH officials were also present during the inspection.
