Vibrant Village scheme helping on expanding infrastructure in border areas: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Vibrant Village scheme is helping in expansion of infrastructure in border areas and encouraging reverse migration. He was virtually addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the ‘Niti Extreme Ultra Run’ marathon on Monday. The programme was organised at the picturesque and strategically important Niti Valley of Chamoli district. In his address the CM noted that the number of homestays in the Niti area has increased from 35 to over 450 which is a proof of growing tourism potential in the region.

He said that this ultra-run, held at an altitude of 11,000 feet, has emerged as a symbol of the youth’s indomitable courage, energy, and self-confidence. “This awakening of the Niti Valley is not just an event, but a new chapter in the self-respect, self-reliance and renewed confidence of the border areas,” he said.

The CM averred that the campaign will now be taken to every border valley of Uttarakhand. He congratulated all the organizers, Indian Army, ITBP and the local people on the success of the event. 

Organized by the department of Tourism in collaboration with the Indian Army and the ITBP, this unique event has attracted more than 1,200 participants from 27 states across the country. The three-day event aims to promote tourism in border areas, bring national recognition to local culture and increase fitness awareness among youth. 

Under the “Niti Extreme Ultra Run,” participants enthusiastically participated in various events covering five, 10, 21, 42, and 75 kilometres. At the prize distribution ceremony held in Malari village, Tourism secretary Dhiraj Garbyal felicitated the winners.

Winners of major events- Five KM open men’s category-  Prakash Bhatt, 10 KM open category- Surendra Singh, 21 KM open category-  Lokesh Kumar, 42 KM open category- Yash Raj finished,  75 KM open category- Digambar Singh
