Cabinet approves out-of-turn jobs for medal winners of 38th National Games

In a major boost for sportspersons, the cabinet on Friday approved the proposal to provide out-of-turn government jobs to medal-winning players of the 38th National Games.
The proposal was cleared in the cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. With this decision, players who won medals for Uttarakhand in the 38th National Games will get an opportunity for appointment in government service. Expressing happiness over the decision, Sports minister Rekha Arya said that the Sports department will soon issue notification for the medal-winning athletes.
The cabinet has taken a historic decision to create 243 posts for this purpose. She informed that appointments will be made in various departments including Sports and Youth Welfare, Education, Police and Transport department. The grade-pay of the players will be determined according to the medal won and the respective post, for which a government order will be issued soon.
Arya stated that after the notification, athletes will be able to apply to any department they wish. Athletes who serve in departments other than the Sports and Youth Welfare department will remain affiliated with the Sports and Youth Welfare department for five years and will continue to provide their services. According to the proposal, gold, silver and bronze medalists will be appointed to different categories of posts as per their achievements, she added.
