Confused after clearing IIT, securing a corporate job? Meet the IITians teaching the Gita

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The journey of an Indian student often follows a well-worn path: clear the gruelling JEE Advanced, enter one of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology, and secure a high-flying corporate job. For many, this trajectory symbolises success — elite education, an enviable paycheck and social respect. But what happens after the offer letter arrives and the first salary hits the bank account?

For a surprising number of young professionals, the answer isn’t satisfaction — it’s confusion. In a world driven by performance metrics and promotions, many high achievers quietly begin asking deeper questions: Is this all there is to life? What gives my work real meaning? Why do I feel restless despite “making it”?  Interestingly, some IIT alumni who once stood at this very crossroads are now helping others find answers — not through technical mentorship, but through the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.

Gita Quest is an initiative led by IIT graduates and corporate professionals whose lives were transformed by Gita’s teachings. What began during the COVID lockdown as a small online effort has evolved into a global platform reaching thousands of learners. What makes this initiative even more powerful is its intent: The entire Gita course is offered completely free of cost. There are no fees, no subscriptions, and no commercialisation of spirituality. The goal is simple — to make authentic Gita wisdom accessible to students, professionals, and families across the world, regardless of background.

Why would IITians teach the Gita? Because they understand the pressure first hand — competitive exams, corporate KPIs, startup stress, identity crises after success. Traditional education equips students with technical skills but rarely addresses purpose, emotional resilience, or inner clarity.

At Gita Quest, the Gita is explained in a structured, logical, and practical way — appealing especially to analytical minds. Sessions are interactive. Doubts are encouraged. Philosophy is connected to real-life situations. Participants learn how to apply Gita principles to:

  • Workplace stress
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Leadership challenges
  • Handling success and failure
  • Finding meaning beyond titles

The teachings are not presented as ritualistic instruction, but as a life framework — particularly the idea of karma yoga: performing one’s duty with focus while remaining detached from outcomes.

Many young professionals discover that external achievements do not automatically translate into internal fulfillment. Salary packages grow, but so do expectations and anxiety. Through structured study and practical application of the Gita, learners report:

  • Greater emotional stability
  • Clearer sense of identity
  • Improved focus and productivity
  • A healthier relationship with ambition

What emerges from platforms like Gita Quest is a powerful narrative: success is not merely about degrees or corporate designations, but about aligning intellect with wisdom and ambition with purpose. In an era where achievement often outpaces meaning, the IITians teaching the Gita are not stepping away from progress — they are grounding it. Because sometimes, after clearing IIT and securing the job, the real journey begins within.
