PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Ramnagar

Acting on the directions of the chief medical officer, the district Health department carried out a major crackdown on illegally operating medical clinics in the Ramnagar area on Tuesday. A joint team comprising the additional chief medical officers, Dr Shweta Bhandari and Dr Chandra Pant, along with the drug inspector Archana, conducted surprise inspections in various parts of the town. During the inspection, three clinics were found operating without valid registration and mandatory permissions.

The Health department team immediately issued challans to the operators of all three illegal clinics and ordered their closure with immediate effect.

During the action, samples of some suspected medicines were also seized from these clinics. The officers said that these samples would be sent to the State Drug Testing Laboratory, Rudrapur, for quality and standards examination.

They made it clear that they would not compromise with public health. Crackdown would continue against clinics operating without registration or in violation of prescribed norms, they added.
