The leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya has said that the bureaucracy of the State has become unbridled. In his address on the first day of the two-day special session of the Vidhan Sabha, Arya said that the senior officers have made it a habit of not picking the phones of even ministers which is very concerning. He said that the first elected government of the State headed by late Narayan Dutt Tiwari played a key role in taking the State forward on the path of development. He averred that it was Tiwari who raised the annual plan of the State to Rs 5,000 crore from Rs 900 crore.
Arya said that the industrial units in many parts of the State were established under the Congress rule due to the vision of the then CM Tiwari. He said that in the 10th five year plan the State was given a target of 6.8 per cent and the State reported a 11 per cent growth. The cash reserve ratio (CRR) of the State increased from 22 per cent to 42 per cent and 1,800 acres of land was given for setting up industrial units. Arya expressed concern on the increasing debt burden on the State. He said that the state had a debt of Rs 40,000 crore in 2017 which now has increased to more than one lakh crore.
