Congress questions Dhami leaving State in the midst of disasters

PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Congress leaders of Uttarakhand have taken strong exception to the New Delhi visit of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the time when the State is reeling under a spell of natural disaster.

Taking to the social media the former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the State is facing the wrath of natural disaster triggered by heavy rains and cloud bursts due to which death of people and destruction to the property has occurred. “Huge loss to life and property has been reported from Basukedar of Rudraprayag, Budha Kedar of Tehri and Kapkot of Bageshwar.  A power game is being witnessed in the ruling party at a time when the people in power should be with the people and lead the disaster management works from the front,’’ he said.

Taking a dig at the ruling BJP, the former CM said that some people who are harbouring dreams of becoming CM are showing great eagerness while others are making a beeline at Delhi darbar in the hope for a cabinet berth.  He said that there is no sensitivity left in the BJP leaders and they are only showing hunger for the power.

Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal also targeted CM Dhami for not being with the people during this critical time. He said the government has postponed the swearing in ceremonies of the newly elected district Panchayat presidents, block pramukhs and their deputies which shows the scale of the disaster which has struck the State. He said that during such a critical time, the CM of the State is in New Delhi and the governor in Lucknow.

Godiyal added that the people have also lost faith in the bureaucracy which is engaged in political management of the government.
