President Droupadi Murmu emphasised on women empowerment in her address in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha on Monday. She discussed the expansion of women’s education in the State and highlighted the reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates. Murmu mentioned the names of Gaura Devi, Sushila Baluni, Bachendri Pal, Radha Bhatt and Vandana Kataria in her address. She also appreciated the fact that Ritu Khanduri Bhushan is the first women speaker of Uttarakhand VS and expressed hope that the number of women members will increase in future. The President also expressed his happiness by clapping when the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for becoming the world champion.
