The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Anil Chauhan reached his ancestral village Gawana in Pauri district on Friday to a warm welcome from the villagers and others. People in large numbers, including youth and women, gathered to see him and interact with him. They said that meeting him was a matter of pride for them. Notably, this is the first time he is visiting his native village since he assumed charge as the second CDS of the country in September 2022. During this time, he will offer prayers at the revered Sidhpeeth Rajrajeshwari Temple in Devalgarh, and then attend a private ceremony in his village. His wife, Anupama Chauhan is accompanying him.
Earlier in the day, the CDS arrived at the helipad on the Chauras campus of the Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in the morning. He was welcomed by senior officers from the Army and the administration there. Later, he left for his native village.
