Not inviting Butola to review meeting against democratic tradition: Congress

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
Chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has said that the State government’s decision of not inviting Congress party MLA from Badrinath, Lakhpat Butola in the review meeting of the Vidhan Sabhas connected to the Char Dham Yatra by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday is against democratic traditions. She said that ignoring the public representative of any area is actually an insult of the people of the area. Dasauni accused the State government of having communication with only those public representatives who present only a positive report. “ If the government was really serious about getting to the actual report, then all the MLAs, irrespective of the party affiliations, should have been invited. The government is deliberately keeping the opposition MLAs away from the review meeting which shows its fear,’’ she said.
Accusing the State government of having a narrow mentality, Dasauni said the non-invitation to Congress MLA is against the democratic traditions and is a disrespect for the elected representatives in the federal system.
She expressed hope the Dhami government will come out of the partisan mind-set and will provide equal opportunities to all MLAs.
