Be prepared to act- very heavy rain, extremely intense spells likely in State today

As seen in the recent past, a brief respite from heavy rains is likely to be followed by a spell of inclement weather in the State. The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Friday.

A yellow warning (be aware) has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri and Pauri districts of the State today. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State on Friday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.Meanwhile, little rainfall activity was reported in the State on Thursday with 5.1 millimetres rain in Mussoorie, 1.9 millimetres in Dehradun and 3.5 millimetres in Ramnagar.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.2 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 31.5 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.3 degrees Celsius and 15.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.7 degrees Celsius and 16.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
