Journalists’ Union of Uttarakhand stressed the need for dedicated health insurance for them. A delegation of the union led by its president Ashish Kumar Dhyani met the director general, Information (DG) Banshidhar Tiwari and raised the issue. They also met the Dehradun SSP AjaI Singh and discussed how to strengthen the freedom of the journalists.
While meeting Tiwari, they said that as they work on errands which involve risks they need dedicated health insurance. Now, they are bearing heavy burden of medical expenses due to lack of insurance, they told the DG, Information. Tiwari assured them that he would do everything to start the scheme for them at the earliest.
