The Uttaranchal Press Club felicitated author and journalist Sheeshpal Gusain on Friday for receiving prestigious ‘Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman 2025 .
A number of journalists, literatures and academicians attended the programme chaired by the president, UPC, Ajay Rana.
In his address, Rana said it was a matter of pride for the club that one of its active members had received this prestigious State-level honour. He expressed concern that those stepping into journalism are not interested to read, something which he feared might pull down the quality of journalism. He exhorted the young journalists to carry forward the tradition of study and writing.
Addressing the gathering, Gusain said that his writing is a continuous journey of exploration of history and archaeology which he would continue. He urged young writers and journalists to write based on facts and not rely on hearsay. “Authenticity of what we write must be verified and we must remain committed to truth,” he said.
