SHA takes action against private hospital for violating Ayushman scheme

The State Health Authority (SHA) has taken action against a private hospital in Haridwar district for illegally charging money from beneficiaries of the Ayushman Yojana. Informing about this, officials said that in the first phase of action, a notice has been issued to the hospital to respond to these allegations.
Recently, the SHA sent a notice to all listed hospitals in the State, warning them against unauthorised charges for treatment under the Ayushman scheme. The authority’s teams are also conducting surprise inspections to monitor illegal activities.
In this case, Haridwar resident Madhoram Tyagi reported through the SHA toll-free number that Vinay Hospital Healthcare Pvt Ltd had charged him for treatment in Roorkee, Haridwar.
In response to this complaint, the authority has promptly issued a notice to the hospital, requiring it to provide an explanation and warning it of potential strict action for such misconduct.
Further, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SHA, Reena Joshi stated that misleading beneficiaries or unlawfully charging for treatment in the Ayushman scheme is a serious offense. If the complaints are validated, strict action will be taken against the hospital involved. She emphasised that misleading information about the scheme and other illegal activities are being monitored. She urged beneficiaries to remain vigilant and to report any such incidents, noting that toll-free numbers have been established for complaints.
