CS orders setting up of tinkering labs on lines of Atal Tinkering labs

The Uttarakhand government has decided to set up tinkering labs in the schools of the State on the lines of Atal Tinkering labs. An order in this regard was given by chief secretary Anand Bardhan during a review meeting of the schemes under PM Pragati portal.

He said that innovative and inquisitive teachers should be deployed in thses tinkering labs, who can nurture the hidden talents of children and make them innovative. He said that initially, 10-12 such schools should be prepared and innovative prototype models should be developed, which can participate in national and international competitions. 

The CS also directed that the State Pragati portal be launched in the State on the lines of PM Pragati. He said that a day should be designated each month to hold a review meeting of the flagship and most important schemes of the State and central government. He directed that the first State Pragati meeting should be held in January 2026. 

Bardhan directed that computer/information and communication technology labs, smart classes and libraries should be established in schools identified under the PM Shri scheme. He said that to ensure timely completion of the work, relevant departmental officers should be given targets and regular monitoring should be conducted.  

The CS said that arrangements for a playground in a nearby place should be made for primary schools that do not have their own playgrounds. The CS asked the  district magistrates to assign regional revenue officers the responsibility for finding the playgrounds.

During a review of the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) under the Cooperative department, the CS directed officials to expedite the computerization of PACS.  He also called for an expedition of the system audits of credit societies .

 Secretary Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, additional secretary and registrar Cooperatives, Meherban Singh Bisht and other officers attended the meeting.
