Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) has appointed a senior leader Jai Prakash Upadhyay as the chairman of its central election management committee on Monday. The announcement was made by the party president, Surendra Kukreti during a press conference in Dehradun.
Kukreti said that Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress have ruled Uttarakhand for years but failed to meet the expectations of the people. “Both are adept in taking the people for a ride by dishing out flamboyant promises. Soon after polls, they back down on their promises and hardly work in the true interest of the state,” he said.
“With the people being frustrated with failed promises, UKD is preparing to contest the upcoming Assembly polls in earnest. We hope to form the next government on our own,” he asserted.
