A case has been registered in the Doiwala area of Dehradun district after a woman accused three people, including a woman, of trapping her 15-year-old daughter in a love affair and influencing her to change her religion. The complaint was filed on Saturday at Doiwala police station, where the victim’s mother demanded strict legal action against the accused.

According to the complaint, the woman has been living in a rented house in Doiwala for the past four years with her daughter and son. The house belongs to a person from a particular community, and other tenants from the same community also live there. The mother said that her daughter used to visit the rooms of other tenants and they also came to her house when she was not present. She also alleged that a young man living as a tenant used to enter her room in her absence.

The complainant further claimed that the accused influenced her minor daughter to follow Islam. She said that the young man trapped her daughter in a relationship and encouraged her to adopt Muslim clothing, language and behavior. Over time, the girl started following and liking the religion, the woman alleged.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against three people under the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion Act. Superintendent of police (Rural) Jaya Baluni said that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken after the inquiry.
