The Cooperatives, Education and Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat met governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat in Gandhinagar on Saturday. In the meeting Rawat informed the Gujarat governor about the works being done in the cooperative sector and natural farming in Uttarakhand.
The minister requested the governor to participate in the Cooperative Fairs being organised by the State government in the month of September as the chief guest. The governor accepted the request.
The Gujarat governor shared his experience of natural farming in Gujarat and said that the State government is encouraging such farming in every village. The farmers in Gujarat are earning up to Rs five lakh per acre by engaging in natural farming. He said that natural farming protects land, water, air and human health and makes farmers self-reliant.
He said that the people have become conscious about their health. The governor added that there is a need to differentiate between organic farming and natural farming and as long as the farmers don’t understand the difference they will not be able to adopt the natural farming properly.
He pointed out that Uttarakhand holds vast potential in the field of natural farming and it could be very effective in the mountainous areas of the State. The governor highlighted the need to link natural farming with cooperative movement in order to reach the maximum number of farmers.
