Doon, parts of State continue to simmer, no respite in sight

Heat wave conditions continued in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Saturday with the maximum temperature crossing 42 degrees Celsius. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of heat wave conditions likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Tehri, Almora and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in remaining districts of the State on Sunday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Dehradun (hills), Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Dehradun (hills), Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State.Further, surface wind is likely to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) in the plain areas of the State today.

Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with heat wave conditions likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 42 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 42.2 degrees Celsius and 26.9 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 40.8 degrees Celsius and 28.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 29.9 degrees Celsius and 17.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 31.2 degrees Celsius and 20.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
